Deon Robbertze

Founder of CRDC South Africa and Change Agent at the ReWild Centre, leading innovation in plastic waste transformation and regenerative community empowerment.

In Deon's own words

“It didn't start in South Africa. It actually started in Costa Rica. It was founded by a guy called Donald Thompson... He came up with a process which we now call REAP – Recover, Enrich, Appreciate, Prosper – so we can take any waste plastic... and we put it through a process, making a concrete modifier.”

“We see ourselves not just as a solution to the plastic waste problem, but with unemployment sitting on 42%, we're looking at creating jobs within the informal sector to collect plastic and build better homes for people.”

“By working closely with the construction industry, we will create a supply stream for high-quality construction materials.”
