About Saad
Saad Dagher is a pioneering Palestinian agroecologist, head of the Palestine Center for Agro-ecology and founder of the Humanistic Farm. His work foregrounds agroecology as both a form of resistance and a pathway to food sovereignty, political freedom, and climate resilience. With a philosophy rooted in indigenous wisdom and holistic farming, Saad champions humane, environmentally sustainable farming that uplifts communities. His leadership inspires a new generation of farmers and educators to see farming as a way of life, driving systemic change for health, justice, and environmental stewardship in the region.
In Saad's own words
“There can be no liberation if we don’t have sovereignty over our daily bread. Agroecology is a way towards food sovereignty, which can then enable us to consider questions of political liberation.”“I increasingly lean towards distinguishing between agriculture and farming. Agriculture is an occupation but farming is a way of life.”“The systems which keep all other organisms in check don't work with us.”“We will eventually be kept in check, of course, but why at such a cost to the entire Earth community?”Where Saad works
